Katedrála sv. Bartoloměje
An evening of chamber music and organ artistry presents a rich palette of works from the Baroque to the contemporary, united through the unique dialogue between organ and French horn. Performing are Michaela Káčerková on organ and Ondřej Vrabec on French horn, offering a concert experience full of delicate balance, contrast, and coloristic variety.
The program opens with the monumental Pièce d’Orgue, BWV 572 by Johann Sebastian Bach, followed by the poetic Prière, Op. 158 by Camille Saint-Saëns and the iconic chorale O Mensch, bewein dein Sünde groß, BWV 622, presenting a contrast between dramatic expression and contemplative meditation.
The evening continues with Alessandro Stradella’s Baroque Sinfonia No. 2 and Arvo Pärt’s minimalist, meditative Spiegel im Spiegel, whose serene purity contrasts with the energetic and expressive Toccata and Fugue in F minor by Bedřich Antonín Wiedermann and the modern Laudatio by Bernhard Krol. The program concludes with Camille Saint-Saëns’ lyrical Andante for French horn and organ, elegantly uniting both instruments in a harmonious dialogue, allowing for subtle nuances and a rich palette of colors.
This concert offers the audience an unforgettable musical experience, combining technical brilliance, emotional depth, and the rich tonal colors of organ and French horn.
