The Chinese emperor discovers that one of the most beautiful things in his empire is the song of the nightingale. He orders it to be brought to him and imprisons it, enchanted by its singing. When he receives the gift of a beautiful mechanical nightingale, he loses interest in the real one. However, when the nightingale learns that the emperor has fallen ill, it returns to the palace, and even Death is so moved by its song that he leaves, and the emperor recovers. You too can be healed by the charming musical story of this classic Czech animated film. A musical retelling of Andersen’s fairy tale by Trnka’s court composer Václav Trojan, performed by the Trojan´s Trio.
